As a grass-root NGO, CHP relies entirely on public support to carry out its conservation work. Contributions include funding to support specific projects as well as volunteer work to help document translation, and without such contribution, it would be impossible for us to achieve what we have achieved today. To better collaborate all the resources in the society, we are trying to create more user-friendly means to get more and more people involved.
Now we have the following ways to support us:
Direct donation:
In the past, CHP has benefited from funding from local and international sources, such as UNESCO, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, the James Thompson Fund, Trace Foundation, and a few individual donors. CHP, as a legally registered NGO, can accept donations directly in the following ways:
For Donors from U.S. & Canada:
Asia Foundation has arranged US/Canadian tax deductible status for CHP. If you logon to Give2Asia’s website and go to “Funds”, you will find us under “Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Fund”. As we have received funds to finance our Friends of Old Beijing program (Cultural Conservation Monitoring), and our media training program (Cultural Conservation Media Campaign), so the more urgent one is for our daily office operation (Operating Support). If you are interested, please click here to download the form for donations to our Operation Support project or visit Give2Asia’s website for online donation

Volunteer with CHP
CHP is primarily a volunteer organization and would not be able to survive without the help and support of people like you. Whether you have only a few hours a month or would like to get involved to a greater extent, there are numerous ways you can make a difference in cultural heritage protection.
Become a member of our Volunteer Network or contact us to find out which opportunities fit your schedule. Possibilities include giving educational seminars, letter writing campaigns, or translation.
Get involved in a non-official way
Not enough time? Or too far away from us? The easiest way to make a difference though does not require affiliation with CHP. Simply educating yourself through browsing our website, or subscribe to our monthly CHP Heritage Updates, and passing on your knowledge to others, not necessarily in a formal seminar setting, can make a huge difference. One of the greatest obstacles in cultural heritage protection in China is a general lack of awareness, which does not require a specialized course or lecture to remedy, for example, respecting signs not to touch at museums and parks, etc.
