Volunteer Translator Needed |
|
| |
Dear Friends,
You may have noticed that the translation of this issue of newsletter was not as flawless as our past issues, as our Chinese staff took some time to put them together. In the past, most of our final proofreading was done by a few native speaking volunteers or interns., and this months, our interns went back to school, and our volunteers are mostly on the road. We have to admit, to have our staff translating the articles does distract our focus of work a bit, so we would like to ask for your help to build a strong translation and proofreading team.
This team should consist of three to four core members, and a qualified Volunteer Translator should fit into the following criteria:
- Native speaker of English or proficient in English.
- Good writing skills.
- For translators, good reading of Chinese texts.
- For proofreaders, journalist or editor background will be a plus.
- Last but not least, a strong desire to help us protecting the rich cultural heritage of China.
- Resident of Beijing.
Job Description
- Translate our web contents, or newsletter contents from Chinese to English
- Proofread the English texts if already written up by our staff or other Chinese volunteers.
- Proofread the transcription from our monthly lecture or other seminars.
- Frequency of workload: once or twice every month, each time two to three hours.
For those of you who are interested, please send your resume and your personal contact information to volunteer@bjchp.org. We will get in touch with you to discuss your task or any of your further questions.
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you,
Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center
